We are delighted to announce that Anita Davison has signed a deal for four books with Boldwood. World English Rights were acquired by Isobel Akenhead, publishing director at Boldwood, from Anita’s agent Kate Nash.
Murder in the Library is the first book in Anita’s brand new historical cozy mystery series. Based in the early days of WWI, Hannah Merrill strives for independence at a time when women were regarded as ‘not real people’ and expected to remain silent. She refuses to hide away from the threat of air raids in her parent’s country home, and when her best friend is murdered at her Suffragette aunt Violet’s bookshop, Hannah is immediately under suspicion. Determined to help the enigmatic Inspector Aidan Farrell discover the killer, she is drawn into a world of fast living and spying in war-torn London.
Brought up in London and always fascinated by the city’s history, Anita Davison is the author of the Flora Maguire Mysteries, an Edwardian Cozy Mystery series set in London and Cheltenham, where Anita now lives. Published by Aria Fiction, the first release is Flora’s Secret, followed by Betrayal at Cleeve Abbey, A Knightsbridge Scandal, The Forgotten Children and The Bloomsbury Affair.
Anita says, ‘I am delighted to be offered a four-book deal with the impressive team at award winning Boldwood Books for my Miss Merrill and Aunt Violet Cozy Mystery Series secured by my wonderful agent Kate Nash. I am especially thrilled to be working with the lovely Isobel Akenhead whose enthusiasm for my characters is both flattering and exciting.’
Murder in the Bookshop will be published in August 2023, with further books in the series to follow.
