We are delighted to announce that Emma-Claire Wilson has signed a deal for two books with Avon. World English Rights were acquired by Thorne Ryan, former deputy publishing director at Avon, from Emma-Claire’s agent Kate Nash. Publication will be overseen by editor Elisha Lundin.
This Child of Mine follows the story of Stephanie who, after years of trying for a baby, finds out she’s pregnant on the same day she is diagnosed with ovarian cancer. If she carries the baby to term, she will almost certainly die. If she proceeds with treatment, her baby will not live. As she navigates this impossible dilemma, Stephanie’s marriage begins to crumble and long-buried family secrets surface. Can Stephanie find the strength to face these challenges head on? And who will she choose to save: her daughter or herself?
Born in Scotland, Emma-Claire travelled the world as the child of military parents and finally settled in Southern Spain with her husband, daughters, and rescue dog, Pip. Emma-Claire works as a journalist and in 2015 launched The Glass House Online Magazine.
Emma-Claire Wilson says: ‘This Child of Mine is a book that has been niggling at my brain and begging to be written for over a decade. It tackles topics that have had a meaningful impact on my life, and so finding the right home for it was the most important thing.’
‘I couldn’t ask for a better champion for my debut novel than Kate Nash. When Kate got in touch to say she was interested in representing me, I was over the moon, she had been at the top of my dream agent list for many years. The whole team at Kate Nash Literary Agency have been so incredibly supportive, but to know that Kate was so invested in finding the right home for this book was what blew me away. Her tenacity and vision for my upcoming novels fills me with hope and excitement for the future.’
This Child of Mine will be published 3rd August 2023 and her second novel will follow in early 2024. Listen to Emma-Claire share more about her journey to publication on her brand new podcast, Eeeeek! I’m an Author.
