We are delighted that Total Blackout by our very own Alex Shaw has been shortlisted for the prestigious Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize for novels that “best capture the spirit of adventure writing”.
A gripping and fast-paced action adventure thriller, Total Blackout marks the start of an explosive new thriller series starring ex-SAS trooper Jack Tate, published by HQ (HarperCollins).
The prize recognises the best adventure fiction published between 1st May 2020 and 30th April 2021 and the winner of the best published novel will be revealed in an online ceremony on 8th September 2021. Submissions were open to authors of any nationality writing in English and the winner will receive the top prize of £10,000.
Alex Shaw is joined on the shortlist by Rachel Joyce’s Miss Benson’s Beetle (Doubleday), James Swallow’s Rogue (Bonnier Books UK), Ayesha Harruna Attah’s The Deep Blue Between (Pushkin Press), D V Bishop’s City of Vengeance (Pan Macmillan) and Niall Edworthy’s Otto Eckhart’s Ordeal (Universe, Unicorn Publishing).
